Recycling

At Q-lite, we consciously choose recycling and reuse of our digital displays. Our take-back guarantee  allows us to bring old displays in-house to:

1. refurbish, upgrade or
2. recycle

Wondering how this contributes to a circular economy? You can read about it below.

Take-back of your display

Q-lite gives its customers a take-back guarantee. When we replace an outdated digital display with a new one or the display is no longer needed on site for other reasons, we offer the option to take it back.

At our factory, we then look at the possibilities of overhauling and upgrading (refurbishing) the digital screen so that we can re-market it as a second-hand product. If this is not possible, we take care of dismantling the screens. Many of our digital displays have a modular design, allowing us to properly separate the various raw materials and recycle them to a high standard.

As a customer, do you opt for our Display as a Service model? Then we automatically take back the screen at the end of its service life and it is fully recycled.

1. Refurbishing and upgrading

When the digital display is still in a good condition, we refurbish it at our factory. This allows us to extend the life of the screen by several more years. With refurbishement, we update the software and controls as standard, so we can connect the screens with the latest technologies.

With several display ranges, it is also possible to upgrade image quality and energy efficiency by just replacing 10 to 20% of the display . A great example of this is our sustainable range Q-LED TV’s. Updates allow these full-colour LED displays to be kept up to date for 15 years.

Converting the displays for new applications is also possible. Led displays, for example, can be given a second life as digital scoreboards.

2. Recycling

When the screen reaches the end of its life, we dismantle it at our local plant on the border of Belgium and the Netherlands. This is where the first separation into pure raw material streams takes place. This prevents the entire screen from going through a shredder, leaving only low-grade raw material streams and waste. After dismantling, various parts go back to our suppliers for recycling. We also work with a sheltered workshop where they dismantle our electronic power supplies into high-quality electronics and pure aluminium.

Recycling of our various raw material streams takes place in the following countries:

  • The Netherlands
  • Belgium
  • Germany
  • Luxembourg
  • France
