Kiltunnel is ready for the future
As part of a major renovation plan, the Kiltunnel toll plaza is getting an impactful makeover. After 10 years, it is time to upgrade our information displays at the well-known underwater tunnel.
10 brand-new VMS signs and 2 roadside DRIPs show road users the right way. To guarantee non-stop signalling on the renewed toll roads, the operator is calling on Q-lite for the third time. In 2005 and 2013, we had previously supplied digital LED signs.
Sustainable displays
The entire toll plaza building is proud owner of an A++++ energy certificate. The customer therefore deliberately chose our sustainable Q-LED TVs with proven low material and carbon impact. These unique LED displays on the market consist of as much as 80% recycled aluminium.
By working with a glass plate, we can avoid coatings, adhesives and plastics as much as possible. This ensures the screen can be completely disassembled after its end-of-life, while at the same time guaranteeing a waterproof housing.
Signalisation at a glance
The project includes 10 brand new toll lanes with different payment options displayed on digital LED displays. The different icons should make it clear to visitors at a glance where it is best to queue. This allows higher capacity and optimum flow in the tunnel.
The assembly of the VMS displays is tailored to the contractor’s construction down to the last detail. The displays hang neatly at the top of the new walkway, which crosses the toll lanes in both directions. Communication at the entrance gates is readable from afar.
Automatic icons
The control of the displays is linked to the tunnel management system. As a result, the icons on the displays automatically change when the traffic situation changes. This allows the Kiltunnel to ensure the flow of traffic at all times and provide quick passage for emergency services in case of emergencies.
Complete monitoring
Traffic is present in the Kil tunnel day and night. The digital LED displays therefore have an important requirement: to ensure continuous and perfect operation.
The VMS boards are therefore redundantly equipped, from the power supplies to the controls, and equipped with the most complete monitoring to ensure maximum operation.
