From the summer of 2019 you can reach the beach faster in Noordwijk thanks to the new Q-lite Parking Route Information System (PRIS). This system is mainly intended to direct traffic flows towards the beach and thus improve the flow of traffic.
Free or busy
The PRIS consists of various Dynamic Route Information Panels (DRIPs), dynamic PRIS signs (with both dynamic numbers and dynamic arrows), static signage and equipment for obtaining current occupancy information (free/occupied) of the 1700+ parking spaces in Noordwijk. . The system directs visitors directly to the parking locations where there are still free spaces. This allows visitors to find an available parking space more quickly and unnecessary search traffic is prevented.
Parking sensors in the road surface
The new PRIS contains the reference to 6 different parking locations such as the Wantveld and the Palaceplein. Unique is that the occupancy of the parking spaces is measured via parking sensors in the road surface. This provides insight into the current occupancy for both parking locations and street parking. Thanks to our signposts and the DRIPs at 17 locations, visitors to Noordwijk can quickly find a free parking space. In addition, this current and historical data is the basis for the municipality to determine the right actions and scenarios for dynamic traffic management in the city.
Management
For control, the PRIS is linked to the existing regional network management system of the Province of South Holland.
Parking lot optimization
To ensure a pure measurement of the number of free parking spaces, Q-lite has optimized the parking areas. By placing posts and pointed blocks along the edges of the parking location, motorists are forced to use the official entrance and exit.
Partnership Parkeagle
Q-lite works together with the Amsterdam company Parkeagle for the supply and installation of the parking sensors. The unique parking sensors they have developed are a nice addition to Q-lite’s mobility solutions.
