Chicago’s already imposing skyline has been expanded with the Centennial Wheel on Navy Pier. The white state-of-the-art Ferris wheel, the DW60 from Dutch Wheels, is 60 meters high.
On both sides of the Ferris wheel, Q-lite placed a custom-made round outdoor LED screen, including construction. The entire project, from engineering to production and realization, was supervised by us and delivered to the satisfaction of the customer.
Safety through quality
The Navy Pier is the number 1 attraction in the city and attracts many visitors every year. Due to the safety of those visitors, extra attention has been paid to the quality aspect. In accordance with the standards, the steel construction has been calculated down to the last detail several times in order to be able to install a suitable, safe and weather-resistant construction. At the start of the project, a scope was drawn up in collaboration with the client, which included all quality requirements and standards. This keeps the quality transparent and also correctly measurable.
Projectmanagement from A to Z
Q-lite has not only made serious work of the production process, but also of project management. The entire project had to be completed in 6 months. And with success thanks to the application of our project model that consists of 5 phases (definition, design and engineering, production, realisation, delivery) and is separated by clear decision moments. Strict agreements, clear procedures and transparency towards the client have been the success formula for this project.
